WELCOME TO FINDING RHYTHM, BUILDING CONNECTION!

In this video series I take parents and caregivers through the early stages of infant and child brain development, through the lens of Growing Brains. We will look at some of the most characteristic behaviors and challenges at these ages, and see how music can be a tool for brain growth as well as promote listening and cooperation at home. Join me in Finding Rhythm and Building Connection together!

MUSIC WHILE YOU’RE EXPECTING!

Expecting a baby is a time of great anticipation! Here’s how you can use music to connect to the new life you are awaiting, to focus on your own calming movement and breath, and to start to connect on a deeper level as a growing family.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

MUSIC FOR NEWBORNS!

One of the hardest things about life with a newborn is the lack of structure to your days. Find out how you can use rhythm to help you establish a routine, and feel a sense of flow for the whole family. I’ll show you what kinds of rhythms will help promote play and rest, and why music is such an incredible tool for bonding with your baby.

MUSIC FOR CRAWLERS!

Watch out—your baby’s on the move! Did you know you can use rhythm to help stimulate and support natural motor development? Just as important is helping your baby’s very active body settle down to rest, and we’ll see how music can help with that too. Most importantly at this age, remember: babies FEEL the beat! So get moving together: this will lay the foundation for your baby’s lifelong rhythm abilities!

MUSIC FOR TODDLERS!

This is what I call the age of Independence: toddlers have an insatiable need to find and express their autonomy through active exploration! They *also* need a lot of support in managing their emotions. I’ll show music—especially rhythm—can help all of that, and help you achieve greater cooperation at home.

MUSIC FOR PRESCHOOLERS!

By preschool age, many children are showing great interest in music—often dancing or singing without even realizing it! Here’s how you can support the development of their musical brain, by exposing them to the beautiful range of musical arts that are out there, while also following your child’s cues to know when they are ready for deeper training. We’ll also explore how active music practice supports intellectual growth as well as empathy and community connection.

Are you ready for music to grow your child’s brain?

If your child shows a musical ear (or body), make sure to listen to my new children’s album, Finding Rhythm: A journey through the musical brain! Click below to check out the show that teaches families about the biological origins of rhythm, and how rhythm grows the brain and helps children find their own individual power… AND their connection with community.
